Quick summary
Start on Systeme.io when the list, the emails and a simple checkout come first. Pay for Wix when the designed site, the hosting and the bookings are the product, and the purchase page shows a bill you accept.
Best for a UK coach or solopreneur who wants a funnel, an email list and a simple checkout before a monthly bill: Systeme.io. The free plan is $0 and needs no card. The visible FAQ says it does not expire. It covers 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 course and unlimited email sends, with lower limits such as 1 email campaign and 500 students. Paid plans start at $17 a month (Startup). Systeme.io says every plan has 0% transaction fees. We earn from Systeme.io.
Best for a coach whose clients judge the website, and who wants hosting, a domain and bookings or a simple store in that site: Wix. The Free card is 0 and needs no card. A Premium plan is what connects your own domain and removes Wix branding. Light is the first paid card. It does not accept payments. Core is the first card that lists payments, basic eCommerce, and scheduling. The cards we read show $17.77, $29.77, $39.77 and $159.77 with “mo”, and each says “Price includes GST”. The line under the cards says something else. Read that before you treat any of those numbers as the amount a UK bank will take. We do not earn from Wix.
| When | Named in the article |
|---|---|
| You want a page, a list and a checkout at $0 while you find out if anyone pays | Systeme.io, free plan |
| You want 0% platform transaction fees on the first sale | Systeme.io, including the free plan |
| You want a designed site on your own domain, and you are not taking payments on it | Wix Light, at the card price, once the purchase page confirms it |
| You want to take payments, bookings or a simple store on the Wix site | Wix Core or above. Light cannot accept payments |
| You want to email more than 200 people in a month from Wix | A separate Wix email-marketing plan. This page could not read its price |
| Your business is a weekly newsletter, and the site is a side door | Look at beehiiv first, linked below |
The short version
Wix is a website builder with hosting, templates, a store and bookings on the paid cards that list them. Systeme.io is an all-in-one for funnels, email, a course and checkout. The first bill is the difference. Systeme.io’s free plan is $0, and its top published plan is $97 a month. Wix’s free site stays on a wixsite.com address until you buy Premium. The first Wix card that accepts payments is Core.
The second difference is email. Systeme.io’s visible FAQ says unlimited email sends on every plan, including free, with the free plan capped at 1 email campaign. Wix’s own help says you can send 200 marketing emails a month on the free email allowance, and that a larger allowance is a separate email-marketing plan. The third difference is the cut on a card payment. Systeme.io’s pricing page says 0% transaction fees and does not print Stripe’s or PayPal’s rates. Wix Payments’ UK card rate, on Wix’s service-fees page, is 2.1% + £0.20 for a credit or debit card other than American Express.
What public reviews say
Capterra and G2 were read on 4 November 2026. Wix’s Trustpilot page was read the same day. Systeme.io’s Trustpilot page returned a block page, so no Trustpilot figure is given for Systeme.io. These are other people’s reviews. They will move.

Systeme.io’s Capterra sample is smaller than Wix’s. Its value-for-money score is higher. Wix’s Trustpilot score sits well below its Capterra and G2 scores. Trustpilot’s own summary on that page, which it says is based on 2,687 recent reviews, says some reviewers were unhappy with unexpected charges and with auto-renewal after cancelling. That sentence is Trustpilot’s summary. It is not a complaint Occono checked against a bill.
“It centralizes our marketing needs, streamlining campaigns, lead management, and result analysis, saving us time and ensuring effective reach to our target audiences.”
Marcin J., freelancer, quoted in the pros and cons summary on Systeme.io’s Capterra page.
“Having easily built several sites on Wix I found the Systeme web building platform much more limited in scope and often a bit clunky and glitchy.”
Anne S., mentoring, E-Learning, self-employed, Capterra, 28 May 2025.
“I really like Systeme.io because it makes it easy to set up sales funnels and build email lists for my digital products, all without any platform fees for product sales.”
Bhavesh K., G2, 13 January 2026. Overall rating 5 out of 5. The same review’s dislike line says it is better suited to solopreneurs and is not a fit for a large multi-product store.
“Emails sent to purchasers cannot be customized/branded and are non-styled.”
Jessica S., owner, quoted in the pros and cons summary on Systeme.io’s Capterra page, under the heading about email setup.
“Wix has been so easy to use, i love how the features are so user friendly, my website navigation is so easy for clients to get all the information they need and get booking.”
Mandeep A., Japanese Head Spa, 1 employee, quoted in the pros and cons summary on Wix’s Capterra page. Spelling in the quote is the review’s.
“While Wix offers incredible flexibility for initial design, its biggest drawback is that you cannot switch your website's template once it is live. If you decide a year down the road that your business needs a completely different layout or structural theme, you cannot simply apply a new template to your existing content.”
Bruno L., senior engineer, management consulting, 51–200 employees, Capterra, 31 May 2026.
“Some of the features require premium accounts. The SEO is not as strong as some other website platforms.”
Amy C., owner, small business, G2, 27 October 2026. Overall rating 4.5 out of 5. The same review praises templates, e-commerce and bookings.
What you actually get
Checked 4 November 2026 on Systeme.io’s pricing page and Wix’s plans page. The free-plan sales cap for Systeme.io is from Systeme.io’s subscription help, last updated 7 October 2026. Wix’s plan limits beyond the cards are from Wix’s help article on the Editor plans. Email allowances are from Wix’s email-balance article. UK card fees are from Wix Payments’ service-fees page.

|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes. The visible FAQ: 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course, 1 affiliate programme, 1 custom domain, unlimited email sends, no card. It also says the free plan never expires, with lower limits such as 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign and 500 students. | Yes. The Free card shows 0 and “No credit card required”, with hosting, a drag-and-drop editor and templates. The FAQ says a Premium plan is what connects your own domain and removes Wix branding. The free address it describes is a wixsite.com URL. |
| Trial and guarantee | The visible FAQ does not advertise a trial. It describes the free plan as permanent and with no card. The yearly-billing control is badged “2 months free”. The FAQ does not print an annual dollar total. Capterra’s product page says “Free trial not available” and lists a starting price of $17. | The plans page lists a 14-day money-back guarantee. The FAQ answers “Can I try a Wix Premium plan for free?” with a full refund if you cancel within 14 days, and says this applies to the initial upgrade. Capterra’s product page says “Free trial available” next to a starting price of $17 a month. |
| Plans, as shown | Visible FAQ: Free $0 (2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course). Startup $17 a month (5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, 5 courses). Webinar $47 a month (10,000 contacts, 50 funnels, 20 courses, plus evergreen webinars). Unlimited $97 a month (unlimited contacts, funnels, courses and automation rules). The offer data on the same page prices those four names at 0, 17, 47 and 97, in USD. | Cards we read, each followed by “mo” and “Price includes GST”: Free 0. Light $17.77 (2 GB, light marketing suite, 2 site collaborators, free domain for 1 year). The Editor help article’s prose says a Light owner can add 1 collaborator, and its bullet list says 2. The card is the figure used here. Core $29.77 (50 GB, basic marketing suite, accept payments, basic eCommerce, scheduling and services, 5 collaborators). Business $39.77, marked recommended (100 GB, standard marketing suite, accept payments, standard eCommerce, scheduling, 10 collaborators). Business Elite $159.77 (unlimited storage, advanced marketing suite, accept payments, advanced eCommerce, advanced developer platform, 100 collaborators). |
| A second set of words on the price | The visible FAQ and the offer prices agree on $0, $17, $47 and $97. A second FAQ answer, in the page’s structured data, adds limits the visible paragraph does not: free accounts with no login or activity for 6 months are deactivated, and the free plan can process up to $10,000 in total sales, with 3 days to upgrade after that. The offer descriptions also name 10 automation rules on Startup and 100 on Webinar. The visible FAQ does not. | Under the cards, the page says prices and currency vary by location, that USD prices are displayed for reference only, that the displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions paid in full, and that prices do not include tax. The final price is on the purchase page. That tax sentence does not match “Price includes GST” on the cards. Core, Business and Business Elite also contain the text “$159/” and “(Save 50%)”. The same “$159/” sits on three different plans, so this article does not treat it as a crossed-out price. This article does not multiply the card figures by 12, and it does not add UK VAT, because the page does not give one reading of the bill. |
| Taking a payment | The pricing page says 0% transaction fees on every plan, and that you can accept Stripe or PayPal at no extra cost from Systeme.io. It does not publish Stripe’s or PayPal’s own rates. | Light cannot accept payments. That is the help article’s sentence, and the Light card we read does not list payments. Core, Business and Business Elite list “Accept payments”. Wix Payments’ UK rate for a credit or debit card other than American Express is 2.1% + £0.20. American Express is 3.1% + £0.20. A chargeback fee on that page is £15. A cross-border fee of 1% can sit on top, and a currency-conversion fee of 2% applies when the payment currency differs from the site currency. |
| Unlimited sends on every plan, including free. The free plan includes 1 email campaign and 1 automation rule. | Email marketing is a separate plan from the site plan. The balance article lists 200 emails a month on the free email plan, 500 on Essentials, 5,000 on Core and 1,000,000 on Advanced. Transactional emails such as order confirmations do not use that balance. The prices of Essentials, Core and Advanced were not on the help pages we read, so this article states no price for them. Wix’s email Core plan and Wix’s website Core plan are different products. | |
| Your own domain | The free plan includes 1 custom domain. The page does not say Wix-style domain registration is included. | Premium is what connects a custom domain, on the FAQ. Most yearly or multi-year Premium plans include a 1-year free domain voucher for a new domain bought from Wix. The voucher does not renew a domain you already own, and it is redeemable within 60 days of the first Premium purchase. A business email on your domain is a separate Google Workspace purchase. The FAQ names 30 GB of Drive storage in that partnership. It does not print a Workspace price, so this article states none. |
| Funnels, bookings and courses | Sales funnels are a numbered limit: 3, 10, 50, then unlimited. Courses are 1, 5, 20, then unlimited. The page has a booking-calendar row. The cells did not come through as text, so no event limit is stated here. The visible FAQ caps the free plan at 500 students, while a line on the same page says unlimited students. | The plans page does not name a sales-funnel limit. It does list scheduling and services on Core, Business and Business Elite. A row titled “Online programs” carries the line “Create and sell step-by-step courses, programs and challenges.” The cells for which plan includes that row did not come through as text, so this article does not assign courses to a Wix plan. The help article’s video caps are 30 minutes on Light, 5 hours on Core and 10 hours on Business. It does not state a video cap for Business Elite in the section we read. |
| Sales cap on the free plan | The help article says free accounts have a lifetime sales limit of $10,000 USD. A warning appears at $8,000. At $10,000, payment pages stop accepting new sales until you upgrade. Affiliate commissions you earn are excluded. The visible FAQ does not mention this cap. The structured-data FAQ does, and it also states the 6-month inactivity rule and a 3-day window to upgrade. The help article we read does not mention that 6-month rule or that 3-day window. | No sales cap of that kind is stated on the plans page we read. Selling starts when the plan allows payments, which is Core and above. |
The offer
Systeme.io: free plan, $0, no card, up to 2,000 contacts and 1 course, with the 500-student limit in the visible FAQ and the $10,000 lifetime sales cap in the help article. Startup is $17 a month. The yearly control is badged “2 months free”. Open a free Systeme.io account.
Wix: free site, no card, on a wixsite.com address. Premium is a paid upgrade with a 14-day refund on the first upgrade, in Wix’s FAQ. The cards we read show Light at $17.77, Core at $29.77, Business at $39.77 and Business Elite at $159.77, each with “mo” and “Price includes GST”. The disclaimer says those displayed prices are yearly USD reference prices and do not include tax. Wix’s plans page.
What a year of Systeme.io looks like, using only the monthly FAQ prices, and labelled as our arithmetic. Startup is $17 × 12 = $204. Webinar is $47 × 12 = $564. Unlimited is $97 × 12 = $1,164. The “2 months free” badge is not turned into a dollar total here, because the FAQ does not print one. Your card issuer may still add a conversion charge. The pricing page shows no VAT rate. Systeme.io’s subscription help says a VAT number can be stored on the billing details. It does not say UK VAT is added to the $17.
This article does not publish a yearly Wix total. If “mo” means a monthly charge, the Core card is $29.77 a month. If the disclaimer is the one that governs, that figure is a yearly subscription shown as a monthly equivalent, and tax is extra. “Price includes GST” is a third reading, and GST is not UK VAT. The purchase page is the figure to pay. Capterra’s $17 starting price matches the dollars on the Light card before the “.77”, and it does not show the cents.
The UK card fee is separate from the site plan, and it is in pounds. On a £47 workshop, 2.1% is £0.987, plus £0.20 is £1.187. Wix’s invoice article says processing fees are rounded to the nearest cent, so that is £1.19 on this arithmetic. Systeme.io’s own fee on that £47 is $0 on the pricing page’s 0% rule. Stripe or PayPal can still charge you. This article does not have Systeme.io’s processor rates. Two sales of £47 on Wix Payments are two lots of £0.20, plus 2.1% of £94. The £0.20 is per payment, not per month.
Which one fits you?
A Leeds career coach with a one-page offer, about 150 people on a list, and no product for sale yet. Systeme.io’s free plan covers the page, the list and unlimited sends at $0, with 1 email campaign until you upgrade. Wix’s free site does not include your own domain. Light is the card that does, and it cannot take a payment. Wix’s free email allowance is 200 messages a month, so one send to 150 people uses most of it. If the list is the job, Systeme.io. If clients are choosing you from the look of the site, Wix Light is the published starting point, and you still need somewhere for a list larger than that 200. Our beehiiv vs MailerLite comparison is the page for that list, and beehiiv is the newsletter tool we use.
A Manchester consultant selling a £97 workbook to a list of about 80. Systeme.io’s free plan includes the checkout and a 0% platform fee until the $10,000 lifetime sales cap, which this article does not convert into pounds. Wix needs Core before the site can take the payment. Core’s card shows $29.77 with “mo”, and each card payment then picks up 2.1% + £0.20 if you use Wix Payments in the UK. Systeme.io, unless the designed site is why people buy the workbook. Anne S.’s review, above, is the objection to Systeme.io’s page builder if you already like building on Wix.
A Bristol yoga teacher who wants a class schedule on the site and payment for a workshop. Wix Core is the first card that lists payments, basic eCommerce, and scheduling. The email allowance is still 200 marketing emails a month unless you buy the separate email plan, and that plan’s price was not on the pages we read. Systeme.io’s pricing page has a booking-calendar row and does not show the cell values, so this article does not claim an event limit. If the diary and the site are the product, Wix Core is the published starting point, after you read the purchase page. If the workshop is really a small course plus a handful of emails, Systeme.io’s free plan is the one with a course, a funnel and no site-plan bill. The Systeme.io guide for solopreneurs is the longer look at that free plan.
An Edinburgh solopreneur whose real product is a weekly letter, with a short page attached. Wix’s 200-email allowance is one send to 200 people, or none if the list is larger. Systeme.io will send the letter inside the 2,000-contact free plan, with 1 campaign on that plan. If the letter is the business, start with the beehiiv comparison above before you pay for a website plan.
Someone already on Wix who wants each enquiry copied into a spreadsheet. That job is an automation. Make can sit beside the site. Our Make vs Zapier guide is the page for that bill.
Where Wix is the better buy
When people hire you because of the site, and you want the editor, the templates, the hosting and a domain voucher on a yearly Premium plan. Reviewers who like it talk about building without code, and about bookings and a store in the same place. Reviewers who complain talk about the mobile layout, about being stuck on a template, and about features that sit on a higher plan. Mandeep A.’s line is the booking site. Bruno L.’s line is the template lock. Amy C.’s line is the premium-account wall. Light is the card if you are not taking money on the site. Core is the card if you are. Confirm the amount and the currency on the purchase page, because the plans page disagrees with itself, and because this check did not load a sterling subscription price.
Where Systeme.io is the cheaper buy
For a UK sole trader who is still proving an offer, and for most people under 2,000 contacts who need the list and the checkout more than a brochure site. You can put the page, the emails and the payment on the free plan, and move to Startup at $17 a month when the list, the student cap, the single campaign or the $10,000 sales cap says you have to. You also get the funnel in the same login. Anne S. switched from Wix and found Systeme.io’s page builder more limited. Jessica S.’s line is the other gap: buyer emails that cannot be branded.
Before you pay Wix for a year, open the purchase page and read the currency, the tax line and whether the figure is the amount due today or a monthly equivalent. The plans page we read supports more than one of those readings. On Systeme.io, export a note of your lifetime sales before you rely on the free plan past a few thousand dollars, because the help article stops new sales at $10,000.
