About Occono

Occono is a small publication of practical AI and automation guides for people who run a business on their own, or with a very small team.

Who it is for

The reader we have in mind is a UK sole trader, a solopreneur, or a small business that does the admin itself. You want fewer repeated tasks, and you do not want a stack of tools you will not open. Prices in dollars and pounds both show up, because that is how the vendors publish them.

The site is information. It is not a quote for work, and it is not regulated advice. Check a provider’s own page before you pay for anything.

What it covers

We write in plain English. When a figure comes from a vendor’s pricing or help page, the article links to it and says when it was checked. How we test is the longer version of that method.

The editor

Sam Calder is the pen name Occono’s editor writes under. It is one person, not a newsroom and not a separate expert. The name is there so every guide has the same byline. It is not a claim about qualifications, years in the trade, or a staff of writers.

Comparisons are desk research: vendor pricing and help pages, plus public reviews, with the date they were read. How-to guides are steps for the reader to follow. They are not a claim that the editor has run every one. The mark beside the name is a monogram, drawn for the site. It is not a photograph.

How the site is paid for

Some tool links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, Occono may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. A commission does not decide the recommendation. Several guides name a tool we do not earn from when it is the better fit. The detail is in the affiliate disclosure, the website terms, and on How we test.

There is also a free Automation Starter Pack. The signup sits on the homepage. It joins the Occono email list, and you can unsubscribe.

If a price or a limit on a page looks wrong, write to hello@occono.co.uk and name the page.
